Last winter, I took in a nice Savage for repair. Ended up ownin' it. Don't really want it. don't care for the caliber----.243, it is a birch stocked, it was made in '68, and is a easy 90% finish. I did cut 1 1/2 in. off the stock, to fit my wife, installed recoil pad. She doesn't like it, prefers her .45-70. Is $485 out of line for a asking price for this gun?

With the birch stock it sounds like a 99E to me. E for economy. Seems to me you've just made a cheap gun cheaper. I wouldn't pay near that for it. Not trying to piss in your cornflakes. Just what I'm thinking.

FWIW, the last two 99E 243 on GB sold for 525 and 510. the second one had a pad added.

A gun is worth whatever you can get for it.

Good for you. A lot depends on your regional location and local values. Glad it worked out for you.
