Greetings all...just purchased a Savage Fox Model B. Researched what I could on how to date when it was made...and am totally confused. On the water table, barrel flats and forend iron are the following:

circle A...circle J....then Y R in large caps.

Any help from the Savage experts would be most appreciated.

Just need the serial number if it's a Fox B.
There is no serial number at all...
Hmmm, must be a 50's model B then but your not finding the right date code.

It will be a small oval with a number and a letter inside of it, are you sure none of the circles you've found don't also have a number, the A would make sense if it had a number with it.
Looking over the action with a magnifying glass, I found a small oval with 27I centered on the bottom of the receiver next to the action hinge. If the I part of the small oval is the date...that would make my shotgun built in 1957...right? two years older than me.
(27I) would make it 1957
