Good deal! I hope you'll share pics when you get it.

Agreed to pay his listed price and shipping. Seller was to advise me of shipping cost from Alaska. Stalled me for a few days left message saying he sold locally. Hope he also got some extra money for his trouble. My opinion is his parents failed severely in his upbringing. Chit happens! GW

GW,

That really sucks. That happened to me before and I know how you feel.

In my case, the guy said it was sold to me only to contact me the next day saying he got more money.

It is funny how people say one thing then do another! Huh?

I tried to give a guy a check for $3500 dollars, for a diesel brush chipper, only because it was late Saturday, and the bank was closed. I said I could have cash first thing Monday and offered a couple hundred cash for a deposit. He wouldn't take the deposit and said he would be glad to hold it for me. Sunday I went by his house and it was gone. I thought he put it in the barn, but called to check. He said another guy came by right behind me and kept offering more money. He said when the guy got to $5000, with all $100 bills he let it go. If he was telling the truth, I understand. He said he needed money bad. I've never needed money bad enough to go back on my word. But, I do understand a bird in the hand, Joe.

Seems like I run into that type thing more and more lately. What's happened to people?
Posted By: AH64guy Re: 99 A 38-55 - 01/27/17
Same types that will try and get you to close an auction early, with bids, or end the listing early with a payment now.

I think it's coming with the younger "instant gratification" crowd, an attitude of don't have to work and save for it.

Buy it now on credit, use it, and then tank on the payments so that somebody else can pay the higher prices/rates to cover the seller's losses to these types.

Sorry that deal didn't work out, I'd like to have seen the pictures of the rifle.

I just went back and reread his add. He said looks like this one is headed south, unless some one hurries up. So even after the deal was done he was still shopping it around to avoid the hassle of shipping. He sounded a little miffed that someone let his cat out of the local bag, Joe.

Yes I posted a link to his ad should have contacted poster first. In the future will not link ad without posters permission.

Still think he should have said no or yes to shipping then kept his word.
Posted By: JoeMartin Re: 99 A 38-55 - 01/27/17
Not your fault. You were trying to help both seller and buyers. Can't win them all. He just seemed like he didn't want to mess with shipping. I can understand that. But, like you said, all he had to do was say no to shipping, Joe.

It isn't your fault the seller isn't trustworthy. All you did was pass on information.
