According to Royal's book the address that ends in October 3, 1899 was used 1904-1911. I have a carbine on layaway with this address but with a serial number that denotes a 1913 manufacture. Should I be concerned or is this an approximate date? The barrel has perfectly matching patina with the rest of the gun. I don't have Murray's book yet but it's coming. Thank you for your time.
never say never with savage. probably a hold over barrel they used up. that close i would assume its original but those that really know will be along.
get us pictures! what chamber?

What is the serial number?
Carbine? Is it a 1899F saddle ring carbine or 1899H take down?

The barrel address dates in David's or Murray's books are approximate/very close, however, exceptions do exist and we've seen some here.

The barrel address did change over the years. Even if Savage had hard stop and start dates as to when an address change happened there was certainly work in process and inventory in stock. All to be used.
Misread Murray's and deleted post.

Correct info from Murray's. Style 2 1904 - 1911. Style 3 1911 - 1919.
Serial is 131*** It's an SRC. Haven't been able to take photos for obvious reasons and don't want to post any further details until I have it in my hot little hands. It's just the barrel address was bugging me.

I have SRC #136xxx with style 3 barrel address. Happens to be a .303
Your 131xxx with style 2 barrel address is likely legit. What caliber?
32-40
