I have a model 24 22/20 ga. I see there is a grove on the 22 barrel so assume these were designed for a scope. Can anyone confirm or know where to find one?

Is it okay to use with the shotgun barrel. Thinking of mounting a red dot as well.
Thanks for the help!

The groove is for 3/8" dovetail rimfire rings but there are very few modern rings that have enough "bite" to grip the shallow groove on the old 24's. The only ones I've found that are suitable are the Warne all steel rimfire rings. I have them on a .22LR/.410 and a .22 Mag/20ga and they work perfect. Have no problems shooting the shotgun barrels with scope aboard.

That is the 3/8" scope mounting groove common to lots of the .22's. I put a 2.5-8x Leupold on mine for a time with a look through mount, but it made the 20 gauge shotgun nearly useless. I've been happier with a peep sight on mine.

Thanks for the response. I'll see what I can find.

Edit: sorry, I just realized that this mount only fits the 24's that have been drilled & tapped from the factory.

Here ya go:

I use the B-Square Weaver adapters on my rimfire Savage 24s.

Take a look at BKL products. I use 3 of the ringmounts shown below to mount a scope on my .22Mag/.410 M24.

If my M24 had a 20ga 3" chamber, I would consider the ringmount shown below. 4" of clamping surface.
