I need to take apart the TD latch from an 1899. Before I proceed and possible screw something up I wanted to get some opinions. I've attached a picture of the rear, or top depending on how you want to look at it, of the latch. It looks like there is a roll pin holding the sliding part in. I thought it was a hex screw but I don't that's the case after looking at it closer. Anyone around here done this before?

That takedown latch assembly is one of the poorest designs they ever did. The slide button mates with the latch pin by protruding through and then being peened on the end of the little shaft to hold it together. The tension spring is just sorta jammed in there.

Why do you 'need' to take it apart?

The rifle had an awful re-blue job on it and I am going to rust blue it. I was hoping I could take the latch apart to strip and blue it.
