am looking at a Chicopee falls td barrel in 303 to try on my Utica G from 1926. what are the chances i could make it work?
it is a complete TD assembly on an auction site that is a mix and match. just wondering about the barrel.
I'd say 50/50. I don't think Chicopee Vs. Utica is a real issue. It's all about indexing and head spacing. Lots of people here have swapped barrels so we know it can be done.

This. I think you're spot on with those odds, Mike. (It's also the odds that Vegas bookmakers are giving on the subject.)
I always wondered about this too. I have a circa-1929 F in 303 that's had me thinking a switch barrel in 303 and 35 topped with a good peep sight would be cool.
No reason to not attempt a swap, IMO. Even if they don't mate up there are ways to make it happen, but you gotta like a challenge.
price on the thing has me backing off. the forearm is splintered so only parts value is in the hardware and the barrel. think i'll keep looking for a complete gun.
the td hardware is the early with the cross screw so don't think it is original to the barrel.
Bear in mind the fore arm hardware, latch and iron, are scarce and command higher and higher premiums on the market as time passes. I have a complete latch, hooks, and irons that would take some serious money to get me to relinquish.
Sounds like time for a 3D printer! Just how tough of material can you use in those things? Could you use anything that approximates the strength of steel or aluminum for small applications like TD latches or even scope bases (I'm thinking Stith here)?
Not often you hear "Chicopee Falls td barrel". They made some as replacements, but ain't many out there.

I have a Chicopee Falls 24" 30-30 takedown barrel I fit to a rifle.

As you guys that have been following along with my 110 barrel swap have seen, I had to index the barrel and receiver and deepen the chamber to get headspace right and it was all done with hand tools available from this company. Dial up a few youtube videos and you're good to go.

If you want a rifle, I have a 99E in 303 I would sell.
