I have a Savage 99 with the old, hard to see irons. It's not drilled and tapped and I don't plan to do so. What I would like to find is a fiber optic front and rear sight that I can install that will enable me to shoot and hunt with the rifle. Has anyone already done this and if so, what did you use? Thanks

I had a 358 re-bore set up with a Redfield tang sight and fiber optic hooded front, which was very fast sighting rifle. Sold it to a fellow member who was looking to set up his son with a brush gun. I like tang sights with the hooded front fire sights, as a "ghost ring" sight for my old blurry eyes. I have a 39A and RWS air pistol set up that way

What model and brl length, do you have and how old (serial number range)?

Jeff... you mean tang or receiver sight (both mounting on the tang for 99's)?

Its an EG with a 24" barrel, ser # 5843xx.

If I go with a receiver or tang sight, do I use a 3/8" slot blank to fill the void of the rear sight?

Yes, 3/8".

Here is a fiber front. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1184116846/williams-fire-sight-rifle-bead-fiber-optic-red

You could mount a scope with a Stith or Lightfoot mount...no holes required.
