Anybody ever heard details on what recoil pads Savage would install on 99’s back then? Apparently most of the Fox shotguns were getting Jostam.

Just curious. Drew mentioned a brand once, I don’t remember what it was or where he got the info.

In 1934 it would cost $5.40 to get one added, when a 99H was listed at $44.50 and a 99RS at $66.75.
Jostam seems to be what the factory installed on the 430 shotgun. I keep an eye out for them on eBay but they all seem to be beaters that were taken off guns. I would assume that Savage used the same make if they installed a pad on a 99 at the customer's request.
My 24J-DL that I grabbed has a Jostam, got me thinking again of the factory installed ones on 99’s.
Check out Galazan's repro recoil pads at Connecticut Shotgun. They sell all those pre-war recoil pads- Jostam, Silvers, Hawkins, etc.
Don’t want one, just asking if we ever figured out what Savage would use back in the 30’s.
