I have the fore end and back half of a single shot Stevens Model 94c shotgun. Will any gauge barrel fit it ? It was a 16 gauge but the barrel was bent and discarded. I want to bring it back to life. Thanks for any info.
Eric, I have one I believe the same, with the tennite stocks. I don't have another to compare it to. If you go to Numrich Gun Parts you may be able to track that question down there. It would seem logical that at the very least the forearms would not be interchangeable, but I don't know about the receivers. Have you checked around for another 16 gauge barrel or are you wanting something else?
Eric, I think you may have a lot of options. I have a house brand version of a 94 in .410, not sure which letter version it would be. I also have a very early Savage 220 in 22 SHOT and a later 220 in 12 Gauge, the barrels on all of these will interchange (using the proper forearm). The forearms on the 22 Shot barrel & the .410 barrel will interchange. The early 22 shot barrel will fully latch in the later receivers but the two later barrels will not fully latch in the very early 220 action (it has the Sheetmetal trigger guard and does not set he safety when the action is opened). The Stevens house brand .410 does not have an ejector but the 220 barrels do and they work in the Stevens receiver. I think all of these were made at the Stevens plant.
It look like you might also be able to use a Savage 220 or 219 barrel & forearm.... time to start putting together a set..
The reason I got the Stevens and the later 220 was because I need a stock for the early 220 in 22 SHOT, neither stock fits well around the tangs so I'm still looking, they fit well enough to function but I would like it to look as original as possible. I have not tried to change the other two stocks.
Roy, how is the forearm on the TENITE gun attached? I saw a Stevens 16 gauge barrel on eBay but it is setup for a forearm attached with a screw instead of the normal snap on type, only thing I could think of is that it might have been for a TENITE gun.

Just be warned that finding a barrel that fits well may be a bit of a challenge. I’ve noticed that with a couple barrels for a 420 20-gauge Savage. These things were made in a time when hand fitting parts was a necessity due to wider tolerances in manufacturing. However do stay on it and best of luck in bringing the old Stevens back to life. It’s a worthy quest.

I did look at a schematic on Nummrich but it doesnt specify if different gauges are compatible with the back end.
I saw your PM. That barrel has the stud for a screw on forend, I need the hook shaped one. I looked on eBay but I'm not sure I want to drop $100 on a barrel.

I tried the switch barrel idea on the 420 I mentioned above. What I found out was that there are differences in frame sizes that prevent switching barrels between different gauges. However I don’t know if that holds true with your Stevens.
The answer is no, at least a 12 ga won't fit a 16 gauge back end. The chamber diameter is larger on the 12 ga barrel I tried and it wouldnt snap shut.
At least I have a 16 ga barrel now and I'm back to having a workable shotgun.
