Tried to post on the savage forum, but must have done something wrong. Check out my image gallery for the story.

If someone could post it here that would be great.

Thanks
Nash

I tried Nash, but I couldn't get your photos to open. Tell us the story while we're waiting, please. Oregon buck, mule deer?

Sunuvabitch, Ruger made Savages too?
Posted By: nash22 Re: 2019 buck - 10/02/19
Yep, Central Oregon Buck.

Had to go by myself this year, my dad who is 84 years old and wasn't able to go this year due to health reasons. We've hunted together for 45 years, he's been my hunting partner every year. Been 3 years since we drew tags so he probably won't get drawn again.

Didn't have time to get any of my Savage 250's dialed in so went to the old standby Ruger 77 in 250. It did the job ..

Lot's of memories, just not the same without my hunting partner.

Chlinstructor thanks.

Yes, Ruger made one in 250 Sav and it is a tack driver. 87gr Hornady over a charge of Varget.

Take all the time you can with your dad now and savor every minute.

I had a couple Ruger's in 250, one was restocked by lone wolf in Montana and the other was punched out to 250 AI. Neither was accurate like yours but both were a joy. Not many good bucks left in Central Oregon. I used to live and hunt out of Sisters. We had some dandy's until the early 80's. 5000 tags in a unit pretty much ensures that won't last. Then the winter of 92-93 finished off what was left. Rare indeed to find a mature buck like yours anymore, well done.

Wow, you are setting the bar pretty high. I think one side of his rack weighs as much as one of our WV mountain deer.

...PLUS, you knocked him down with a tiny little 87g bullet limping along at 3000fps???

That shouldn't happen............;)

Congrats on a great looking deer.

That's a great mulie! A Ruger 77 in 250 Savage is a fine combination. Your Father is a lucky man to have gotten to hunt with his son this long, he'll enjoy the story almost as much as the hunt.

Big deer... congrats!

That's a swell deer! Congrats!

Nice tool you did it with, too.

Nice job!
I have a 77RSI in 250. Nice shooter. Handy little deer gun.

It's been 16 years since my last hunt with my dad before he left us. I still think about him every year when I'm chasing deer. I take his deer gun for a walk at least one day every season.

Again, Congratulations!
