Hi - I discovered this informative site while researching loads for 300 Savage. I own 2 99’s - a 1960 99F in 308 with weaver swing down scope mounts and a Bushnell Chief 4x that I inherited from my Uncle, and a 1936 99EG that I found in an OKC pawn shop in 300 Savage with a Lyman peep sight. I love the trigger and fit of my old 99EG, and with my old eyes, a peep is not very accurate for me. That rifle had been drilled and taped for a scope mount, but must have been a long time ago, and maybe a DIY job. The local gunsmith said that unless I could find the original scope mount type, he could not mount one on it. So, I am hoping to connect with Lightfoot and get one of his mounts for my EG. I belong to the OKC Gun Club, and enjoy Trap, Skeet, Steel Challenge, Archery, and reloading.
Don't have a Savage at present, but welcome aboard, Kersht. You'll find the Savage sub-forum to be (generally) more civil than some of the others, seem like a very knowledgeable and helpful bunch.

I am a levergun user, welcome to this forum.
Yes, this can be regrettably rude around here.
I welcome any "99" talk, The more the merrier.
Cheers

Welcome to the 'Fire! I think you will find this one of the most civil places on the internet. If you ask questions you will get the truth. Some people can't handle the truth. smile

Welcome to the forum. First thing you need to do is figure out imgur so you can post photos. We're not real bright so photos help....

There's an image gallery at the bottom of the forums. You can start a thread thread there and load photos easily, then just tell us they are there.

Welcome to the campfire!

Good start. They only breed in the safe, ya know. grin

The 99EG holes are for a scope base where the front fits those holes, and the rear uses the two holes in the tang that your peep sight is using. It was used before Savage standardized their scope mount holes.

It looks to me like the EG might be drilled for the early Redfield mount. I've asked for a measurement on the receiver ring holes. I have a few of the old ones left.

Aaaah.. there is a single rear scope base hole there. I missed that. Good catch, Mike.

Williams did make the mount you described with something like 3/4" hole spacing on the receiver ring. I had one once upon a time. Hope it's not that one!

Post some pictures of your rifles scope base holes we may be able to help you with it and Lightfoot probably has the correct base.

Well I missd some of this some where I vote for for the one piece redfield is old school twist in front ring between the holes.

I do have a williams here but I think it takes standard hole spacing for the front.
Welcome. Great bunch of guys here.

Joe
