I've lowered the price to $450 shipped. Thought someone might want one. *30/06
Don't need it, but its a beauty!
I'm afraid if no one needs one it'll end up a 6.5/06.

Why?
Then you will have 2x into it and NO body will
ever want it.
Just sayin...
Make it a 338-06, and will give you a bunch of brass!
If I needed a 6th .30-06 I'd be barking at you!

I always thought the .270 necked up to .30 caliber would be pretty cool.
I would get it but the bolt's on the wrong side.
That would make a dandy 35 whelen...
that is a very nice looking Savage rifle ,maybe send a picture to Savage and tell them this what a classic Savage rifle should always look like nice wood and blued nicely. but as has been said i have alot of 30-06 rifles. > But it is tempting ?
It would be a sin to de-original that gun.
Roy,
What does it weigh as pictured? I am assuming you have a scale based on your collection.
They are very light mine doesn't quite weigh 7 lbs as pictured 30-06 #7xx 1 st year production and they do shoot nice. Shoot it the way it is because that's the way It used to be...……… MB

Or necked down to 30-cal! Just sayin'

Thanks Magnum Bob. Heck Jeff, why would I need a scale? I just grab and go.
The original barrels aren't big enuf at the muzzle to do a rebore job to .338 or .358". These original 1 st and 2nd year production M110's handle very nicely as is. I think it would be a perfect gun for deer and antelope with 150 cup & cores or go hi tech and use the 130 gr Barnes X for a little higher vel if wanted. Right now mine has Weaver bases, high Weaver rings and a M8 4x Leupold on it, still very lite and sweet handling. It also shoots well with the barrel iron sights as shown in Fireballs pic. A guy don't need the high rings but I don't have to push my cheek into the comb hard and it just comes up right for me. MB
If I were starting out into the world of .30-06's all over again, I would snatch this one up. As far as my Savage "collecting" goes, post-war 99's and non-lever Savages are all pretty much outside my area of interest (although I did snag a nifty 219B in .25-20 from a member here recently that I'm dying to shoot- if danged deer season weren't interfering)!
It's spoken for. No 338/06 now....
