Has anyone had a .300 Savage rebored up to .358 Winchester? Curious. Thinking about it. Don't need one but might want one, which is the best reason of all. I have a couple of salvaged rifles that are perfectly fine now but they will never be original. Thinking about one of them.

I think Jess lists the 35-300 , if you reload
To do a 358 Win you'll need a rifle with a SN of 900,000 or higher.

With the right receiver it seems like there should be enough meat in a barrel to open the bore up to 35 and the chamber to 358 Win.
JES has done quite a few.
It would be best to start with a .308. Maybe even an E. That would be a lower price point for entry.

This would make more sense to me if you are starting with a 300.

If you want a 358, Start with a 308.

Or, not to confuse you with reason,(because I know it has often confused me), but you could scrap all your undesirables and put it towards a factory 358 that would most likely never lose value like something put together.

Just sayin...

I have one I bought from Jes's brother. One of the most accurate rifles I have. It is an early post mil 300 Savage rebored and chambered to 358 Winchester.

The Hornady 250 grain factory loads work well in this rifle.
Any Savage 99 with a serial number over 900,000 or starting with a letter can be converted relatively easily from 300 Savage to 308/358.
