theyre prone to rust a little, especially the D2. but … who cares? a lot of knife for $30.

I bought one after hearing all the hoopla and found them to be a well made knife at a bargain price but I couldn't warm to the handle geometry, it just felt edgy. I gave mine away.

I have two of the D2's, One is still in the box. The other one is my EDC. Damn fine knife for the money.

Rat #2 with D2 blade steel. I like em , sharpen real easy and cut well.

Some people call that model the R2 D2 .

Be careful, there are great prices on fakes on eBay.

i suppose you might be running the risk of getting a clone knife made in china instead of a “genuine” from island china, but again … they cheap

My son managed to misplace his Benchmade and suggested a new pocketknife for his birthday.
After reading all the rave reviews, I gave him a Rat 1 ASU 8.

He loves it, and I was impressed. So I ordered a Rat 2 ASU 8 for my brothers birthday, and a Rat 2 D2 for myself.

So far, everybody is very happy.

If you are worried about fakes, you can order from Ontario.
At Christmas they were among the cheapest.

another great knife in D2 steel, is the BRK Avispa. The handle is much the same as the RAT 1, but it's a liner lock and a drop point. Around the same price point.
