Anyone here actually used a Loveless knife in the field ?

I believe I may have asked this on here before a long time ago and it seemed there were some fellows who had used their knives for field dressing. Of course that had happened when a Loveless was worth about the same or maybe twice what a nice factory deer rifle cost.

I have. He used mostly ATS-34 steel. It did fine, if we’re talking “top 5” makers, I much prefer George Herron’s blades. My blades? They’re a little farther down the line but they work too.

That's pretty neat Hank, which pattern was it the dropped point or the semi-skinner or ?

what is your favorite design that you produce for gutting, skinning and quartering a deer ?

I skinned and broke down a elk. 4 inch drop ats-34. Great tool

I also used mine for years. loveless re-sharpened it about a year before his passing. had a bad scratch on one side he polished out as well. I put it in the safe at his passing and now use David Pitt very near copy. have one of godogs57 as back up , very light and o so sharp. can't go wrong there.

Drop point hunter. I actually have his drop point hunter “outline” or profile that could be used to make an actual duplicate. I wouldn’t dare do it though. It’s collectible as is and wouldn’t be too cool to do so in my book. I’ve made some drop point hunters just like his in the past, as well as chute knives. But….they were my own design. Additionally, I’m 100% sure that wasn’t his only profile of that model so it can’t be claimed to be his only one, so to speak.
