Thought you guys might be interested in a few pictures of how I build some of the parts for knives. There are various types of liner material used for knifes. Vulcanized fiber, G10 etc. Most of it is cut in sheets and offered in various colors. Here's some red and black Vulcanized liner material along with a piece of Red G10.



I cut the liners up and glue them to the material I'm working on.



Once the pieces are dry, I take the piece and clean the glue and sand the edges down so that I end up with a piece to work with





After I get the piece roughly the size I'm looking for, I'll cut it in half so I can use it for each side of the knife. Then I'll flatten it and square it up and put another liner on the bottom.



Now I've got a piece that I can use to lay into a knife as a small accent on each side between scales and bolsters etc. I ended up making these long enough that I may cut them in half and get sets for two knives if I'm careful. Most of it will get ground away with the finished scales, but hopefully it will embed nicely into a set of scales and create a nice little accent when all finished up.

Lots of steps to glue all the pieces together and then lots of steps to put the scales together when you do multi-part scales like this, but the results are worth it I think.

Jeff, I use a slow cure commercial epoxy.

As far as the blade on this one, it's CPM 154 Stainless with my heat treat. Multiple thermal and cryo cycles at Rc61.

Glue for the build up of the parts is super thin cyanoacrylate (basically a commercial super glue) btw. Each layer is glued and clamped separately.
