here's a little EDC. S30v steel with stabilized Elk antler.
Very cool Dan, beautiful elk scales.
thanks, I have a box full that I cut up. I'm getting some really cool textures
That's pretty. Looks very handy too
Dan,
Beautiful work as always.
How was the S30v to work with and sharpen?
Jeff
I really didn't find S30v to be as bad as everyone says. It was pretty easy to grind and drill in the annealed state. Sharpening took only a few minutes on my homemade jig with stones. This steel doesn't want to take a polishing. Satin is the way to go I think
Dam!!!!! That's nice Dan.
Very nice! Those are some fancy mosaics
the mosaics are 1/4 inchers. The knife is only 5 7/8 long
here's a going away shot
I'm just going to continue this thread.
Here's a clip point bowie that I made for a guy that drew a buffalo tag. He speced it out and this is what I came up with.
oops my pics had my logos on them. new pics are coming
thanks, I'm not really into the clip point stuff but since the guy is going to wear dress traditional and use a single shot rifle with tang sights, he thought this was the style best suited for the hunt.
Sweet little knife, those elk scales are nice!
Good looking work
yeah it's hard to find a piece of elk that big and that straight. Luckily, over the years I've shot a few really good sized ones lol
here's the rig he's hunting with. It's a 45-90 with Baldwin sights
Dan, do you do your own stabilizing?
I did stabilize this elk myself. I also did the top knife and this one in S30v
Good lord those are beautiful.....

That is very nice.
thanks, I do think this batch of elk antler I'm using is so cool. The outer bark is so-so but just under the surface is spectacular. I've got a few more pieces of elk that are just as good if not better
I've been working on some damascus steel. This one has box elder scales
Stunning knives. Good work.
thanks, I appreciate that!
here's a smaller skinner type just done
I am drooling all over my dam keyboard!!! And It's all your fault.
that elk rack has yielded some pretty cool handles. I've got a few more pieces but I'm just waiting for the right blade to fit them
Thanks Bearcat74, it took a whole lot of crying to get that Damascus to come out right. This stuff was a pain. It's USA made and it is good stuff. Must have been my inexperience with Damascus that made it so hard to work with.
that would be a perfect little pocket carry fixed blade. Well done, indeed.

Oh, My.
here's a few smaller bird type knives. The Damascus one is 416 layer USA made steel
Love the size and shape! Your brand really pops too.
here's a fairly large hunter made from a Arcade file that Poconojack sent me.
this one sold in less than 10 minutes. It never made it to my website. Posted on FaceBook and they don't last long
just finished this one.
yeah but it's the ivory that makes the package
sheath for the Ivory knife
S35Vn stainless with Afzelia and Elk
I lucked on to this blade shape. I just kept messing it up until it was just right.
just finished this one.
now that is a sweet one!

Agreed. That's one of the prettier, handier blades I've seen in a while. I'd sworn off custom stuff (got plenty, and other reasons), but damn....that one is tempting.

Reminiscent of the Canadian style blades, but with a bit straighter back and point. Nice...

Really like that blade.
Well done as always Dan....
Really like the elk antler.
yeah I like the elk too. The copper makes the green Box Elder pop though.
a couple made from an old sawmill blade. Santoku kitchen knife and a little EDC
All four are mighty fine, but the first two are outstanding!
Good on ya!
GWB
Beautiful knives DT. I'd love to watch you grind them.
Beautiful knives DT. I'd love to watch you grind them.
It kind of goes like, grind a little, mess it up, fix it, grind a little, mess it up, fix it. lol
Very artistic and beautiful work. Love the various decorative treatments.
I try to stick with my overall theme which is old school. Sort of the kind a knife your dad would use
Some Damn fine looking knives there.
Here's a Santoku kitchen knife made from S35Vn steel
I made some Mokume gane from a $20 stack of quarters. The Damascus is USA made 416 layer
gave the Campfire forum a little shout out
Dan,
Really nice work. I sent you a FB friend request so I don't miss out on something I don't know I need yet.
Congratulations on making the newest issue of Blade magazine. Beautiful knives.
thanks guys, I really appreciate that
Awesome work Dan. I sent you a friend request on FB.
Dan--besides the beautiful work the photos are excellent. What are you using?
The camera is a Sony A200 DSLR. I just use a diffuser to get the glare off. I try to shoot early mornings, the light is better on my stump
Classic stacked leather and brass.
mighty fine, both the knife and the pix.
Best,
GWB
Thanks I appreciate the feedback.....
