Photobucket has ruined all the great content we had on here for figuring out what to have Gene build the next time your name comes up. It sure would be nice if everyone would post pics and descriptions.

I really like the bottom knife, simple and perfectly executed.
Thank you troutfisher, since photobucket killed us I haven’t figured out how to post pictures again.

Gene makes cool schidt.
I have only one by Gene. He made it special for me. It is an enlarged version of his Sodbuster design. He called it the "Big Boy Sodbuster". It is very good as an all around belt knife, and particularly good at processing dead animals.

Straight forward, simple lines. Very utilitarian. Nice knife!

Sorry for resurrecting an older thread but I thought it was useful for those of us looking to order an Ingram knife. I have a ways to go until my name comes up but I’m enjoying looking through pics of his work.
Below is a sodbuster, vintage paper micarta, black liners and stainless pins.
I have not had a chance to use it yet but I do like it. I have a couple of others I can post as well.
Would love to see some more knives. It helps with the decision making process...
small boner
Very nice Don.
Why the choil?
Yellow Jacket.
Had a lot of Mr. Ingram's knives over the years but this is my favorite pair for deer. Crappy pic but it was easy to get to.....Yellow Jacket and #1 semi, yellow G10, black pins, black liners, S30V, kydex.
So I don't run the stone up against the fat part. Do it on all of them
I'm surprised more makers don't put a sharpening choil on their knives.
I'm surprised more makers don't put a sharpening choil on their knives.
In a hunting knife it isn't a big deal, but in a bushcraft, fighter, hard use type it has been a weak link so most stopped doing it. Phill Hartsfield did a good study on it after a Mercenary down in South America was shot by a .308 and the bullet hit the blade right between the transition from blade to handle. It cracked across. Phill Replaced the knife at no charge. So he stopped putting Choil on his knives. If I remember right that was sometime around 1992.
I'll keep that in mind next time I buy a knife to use when moonlighting as a mercenary soldier dodging .30 caliber bullets. WTH...?
A choil is a good place for hang ups. Just my personal opinion.
A choil does not give you a longer cutting edge, just a notch that can be hung up on
in some uses. Also as noted above could be a weak point in the structure that does
not necessarily need a 30 cal incident to fail, but if properly rounded should be ok.
They do look nice though.
Again, just my 2 cents.

Agree. I don't care for it. But if a nice knife has one I wouldn't pass up buying just because it did.

I love when people don't have a clue what they are talking about so have to resort to comments like yours. Probably a good 90% of the designs in knives you use, have been developed from things you don't and or won't ever do. But you still get to benefit from it. But please keep on truckin, I am laughing.
I just wanted to say choil not start a fight....
Choil, choil, choil, choil.
Glad I got that outta my sytem.
Never had a single problem with a 'hang up'. But then, I didn't fall off the fugging turnip truck yesterday. The guys with hang ups, I'd bet are the same guys that can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

I love when know-it-alls talk about why their way is the ONLY way ( and saying it's so, because a 'maker' says so), and then resort to commenting on a thread that they'd be better served just STFU. But, I've never been accused of being able to keep MY mouth shut, either......
Just don’t get shot in the boner.
Problem.
Solved.

As could just as easily be switched to say the same thing for guys that can't sharpen a knife that doesn't have a choil.

I love it when p_ssies get their feelings hurt by the truth. Man up or shut up! By the way please show me where I said it was the only way! Matter of fact you can't f_cking read obviously because I stated I would buy a good knife that had one! You must have been run over by the turnip truck.
the innernet badass expert has spoken.... I'ma real skeered of saying another word. So much so, that I will go into self-ban/shutup mode, to keep MCH from calling me a p_ssy and hurting my little feelers again.

Don't flatter yourself. If that is what you want to believe, go for it. Tell me, do you have any Ingram pics to add to the thread, or just the cool mercenary stories and choil busting bullchit? Maybe say a few words on how Gene's wares are complete garbage because they ain't the latest/greatest super-steels? Your turn....

Sorry you bore me! Wipe the sand out of your clit!
Only Ingram I have with choil.
jeez, jud.... that is exactly where it will break when you play mercenary and get shot there, next time.
MCH, any Ingram pics yet?
It isn't the steel, I got room for all kinds of steel. Lackluster grinds more like it. I don't need to chop down a tree with my hunting knives.
Sorry my knowing about knives, steels, heat treat, geometry, and how to use one gets you all worked up. I feel sorry for you.
No you aren't man enough to call.
Don, as you know, it's wasted time and energy and isn't going to change anything.
Have fun whining.

Well send money to go my GoFundMe account, if I tug so hard on your heart strings.
Don, as you know, it's wasted time and energy and isn't going to change anything.
Yeah, I know. But I didn't have anything better to do when we was done pheasant hunting. Watching MCH blather on about choils, cluelessness, mercenaries, makers who don't choil, and lackluster grinds, all before he even posted a pic on a pic thread was well worth the wasted time. And I didn't expend all that much energy typing with one finger.....
Here ya go Atrox
Anyone know what handle material that one is, too row, second from the right?
Camel bone?
I typed camel, was thinking giraffe?
Dyed camel bone ya think? I like that
I think dyed giraffe, but just a guess.
Gee’, I know you’ll be along shortly. How are you liking your A2 from Mr. Ingram?
Trout’, same question if the bottom left is Ingram A2.
Those are nice. The Yellowjacket seems to be pretty popular. It’s one of the models I’m considering.
As far as a thread that documents the fine Knives/patterns crafted by Mr. Ingram this does not do him justice. Would be appropriate if we could have a redo. Just my thoughts.

Jud,
Laffin'...Yep, that's mine.
I had all the brighter colors in G10 covered so I figured I'd give pink a whirl.
It's definitely one I could borrow to a buddy and be guaranteed to get it back.

It is a standard #1B&T. The scales are a bit thicker than any of the more traditional scales that Gene puts on those knives.

Wow, those are great. I’d love to fine a few Ingrams with Westinghouse scales to buy, especially in S30V. I always seem to miss them when they come up in the classifieds. I only have a #1 Semi currently but will add more if I can find a couple.
I have really enjoyed following this thread and the pictures of beautiful knives. For me, having the opportunity to observe the different knives and styles is surely an education opportunity. I should come due on Genes build list for another this May or so. Plenty of time to use all of this information to guide my final decision.

They’re all Yellowjackets with a 3” blade...I should have them in hand this week and can hang some more pics...
I really NEED some of them Ingram's...awesome knives!!!
Nice. What’s that menefee In the bottom pic?
I don't think it has a name. I have had it a long time (so may have forgotten).
Gies340, nice knives. What models are the the orange knives?
Reggie - I believe the smaller orange is H325 and the other is a Slim model with a longer blade, tapered tang. 4" blade with 4-1/4" handle IRC. Both S30V.
Nice knives!
Gene has mad skeels IMO
I need to work a knife one day...
Really good looking combo. I noticed Gene has some new models on his website and it seems maybe some of the older knives aren't listed currently on the site.

I have that exact CF in an Ingram 4S. It gets tacky as [bleep] when blooded.
ALL good in that vein.
Only negative is it chips like crazy in heavy use...
Are these ingrams good knives?
Hunts that’s a good enough answer I will order one! I’ve always been a Dawson fan.

Custom Skinner. Sambar Stag
H225. Stag
Love all 3 but particularly love the B&T.
Does anyone have any new Ingrams to share? My turn is coming up soon. I’m leaning towards a stretched Yellowjacket but am still considering others.
I should be up pretty quick too, gonna do and kingfisher and a I dunno yet!! 😂😂
I’m sure I’ll get it figured out
I’ve got a few orders this year. A kingfisher is definitely one of them.

I like that one allot. Different micarta and pins then are typically used. I'd like to know the specs on it as well
That is rather nice eastcut96.
Someone have a Boner and small Boner they can give me the handle and blade lengths on...
Josh, whatcha thinkin as “boners” go? B&T and kingfisher?
Josh, whatcha thinkin as “boners” go? B&T and kingfisher?
I’ve got a couple of each of those. Dig the Kingfisher a lot for boning and “silvering” out meat... wife has taken a liking to it in the kitchen too.
Gene has a couple older patterns called the Boner and Small Boner that I want to compare to the KF. I’m up for a few and mulling ideas...
Never seen either, curious now. Copy on the kingfisher, I should be up in a month or so, that’s gonna be one of the 2 I order.
There is a couple small Boners pictured in the beginning of this thread.
It’s one pattern I never had in my hand.
I'll keep that in mind next time I buy a knife to use when moonlighting as a mercenary soldier dodging .30 caliber bullets. WTH...?
Haha 😂😂
Never had a single problem with a 'hang up'. But then, I didn't fall off the fugging turnip truck yesterday. The guys with hang ups, I'd bet are the same guys that can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

I like it. But I tend to gravitate to smaller knives in general. A couple variations of his B&T and lite hunters are in my favorites pile.

Real made in 06. Gene told me a gentleman had brought his trophy home and had some of the ivory cut out to make a few knife handles and had leftovers.
You mean I was right for once?......
Hells bells. I wasn’t disagreeing. I was just curious. For the express reason of trying to find good imitation Ivory for a project.
