The stacked leather handle of my Eswing hatchet is slippery in my hands so the hatchet rarely gets used. Is there a handle treatment that improves the grip?
you could always treat it to a rubber glove.....grin
60 grit sandpaper. Get the fibers back up.
You could try some bee's wax...it is pretty sticky and won't hurt the leather.
Kennetrek boot wax would be my choice. Good for the leather and the results of beezywax.
Thank you fellows for the suggestions.
Used 200 grit Norton paper to remove the old lacquer finish that made the handle slick to begin with. Warmed the handle with a heatgun and rubbed the warmed leather with melted 100% beeswax.
Feels dang nice now. Handle stays in the hand while chopping without having to use a death grip
