I use Lexol to clean and rejuvenate old leather. Recently restored a couple of sheaths for Marine Corps fighting knives that were very moldy, cleaned up nicely looked as though they had never been moldy. Also use it to restore old shotgun Leg O'Mutton cases.
The old razor strop I inherited from Dad (maybe Grampa) is pretty dried out. What do you guys use to maintain a strop. Thanks.
Get a tea kettle perking and steam the heck out of it, scrubbing with a firm bristle brush and scotch-bright pad. Then lather with saddle soap and a sponge and/or soft brush. Rinse well under hot tap water, repeat. Then use a heat gun or high heat blow dryer to fully dry and apply new compound...
