Remnar will be coming to deer camp the first week of KY Rifle Season in a month.


He's 28. He'd married. He originally hails from PA. He's been bow hunting since high school at the local state park, but not scored. He will be hunting with a Winchester Mod 94 in 30-30 and a Marlin Glenfield. This will be his first rifle hunt, as well as his first hunt from a treestand.

I've already sent him my advice regarding gear, etc. (see If I were the NewGuy at Camp)

My question to y'all is this: What advice would you give Remnar?

He needs to get one of those catchy new nicknames, like all of the cool guys have, may I suggest "killer" if that's not all ready taken !

He looks like pretty much what you'd expect from a guy named Remnar.

Suggest to him that he sign up here and get his own advise first hand.

I think he is here, albeit as a somewhat quiet lurker.

Sit still, be quiet, and shoot them in the front half. It’s deer hunting not astrophysics.

use a quality harness and practice falling off a ladder at low height to see what its like. it may steer him away from treestands like it did me.
