And he had your number too. How long had that camera been there in that location?
About a week and he is nervous about something..
That's a beauty. Nice and fat too. Probably disappear as soon as his horns harden up.
Nice buck!
spectacular buck...
Great blacktail!
Dandy buck bill. ๐Ÿ‘
So I seen him last evening in the flesh..Hiked in and was watching a unit and seen something in the grass that didn't look right.. He is standing, that is how high the grass is this year with all the late spring rain..

He worked out to a little opening where I could get a good pic..

That's a good lookin' buck, Santiam! Hope you get a crack at him. smile
Saw a nice one like that laying on the side of the road east of Lakeview on 140 that had been hit by a vehicle....

then another over on the way to Medford....

hate to see a nice animal hit by a darn car......or truck...
Damn, that is exceptional. When does your season open?
Thatโ€™s a great Blacktail. Good luck.
I am going archery this year so I get a month towards the end of Aug and another 3 weeks or so starting mid Nov..
Best of luck. Here's hoping you get into backstraps.
Wow, good luck with your quest.

Fire season is going to be a bitch this year - it's like that over in NE Oregon also.

Hope you get a crack at him.
That's a keeper alright Santiam. We saw one like that July 1st and I thought sweet jeezus he's got a few more weeks to grow, he's gunna be a pig. Unfortunately hiding on private land.
Nice buck! Good luck
The other night my wife was watching reruns of Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman. I noticed that she had on an episode where the kid brought home a wounded doe and wanted to keep it for a pet. The show's set in Colorado Springs. The deer was a blacktail. It was obviously someone's pet, as friendly as a family pet Lab. It sure as heck wasn't a wild deer.
Got home from Potlandia, last night at about 12:30 AM...

laying around on the lawn, were 6 black tail bucks...

put the headlights on them and they just looked back at me...

each one had at least 4 points on each side... ( sorry I'm from back east, so I do eastern count, which is a no no to western count guys)

several had 6 points per side..

I am sure they are all fathered by this one Huge old buck that exists in the neighborhood, that I have gotten pics of on several occasions..

I won't even bother describing him as no one would believe what I'd describe...

I'd just post pics, If I could figure out how to after the old simple way was changed...

This deer looks like a pigmy elk.....
The second buck is very interesting..

Couple dandyโ€™s Bill๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Ron sent me the proposals for Oregon next year, see the buck season is gonna go to the 10th. Should be prime time, you guys will have a few Washington boys killin those salamander necks next year๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Might as well come on down..You can get even for all the Washington blacktails I brought back.. wink

yeah Jud, I do, but heaven if I can figure out how to post pics on the campfire's "improved" system to post pics...

maybe I can Hi Jack my son, when he gets home from the hospital, where he works at night as a monitoring tech...

or I can email it to ya and you can post it if you like....

definitely the biggest darn blacktail I've seen in my 27 years here in Oregon... or my earlier days when I lived up in Western Washington...

First time I saw it, it was in my front yard as I was coming home from somewhere..

it actually looked like a pygmy elk to me from a distance... got pretty close to it, and it just looked at me...took about 50 pics of it with my camera...
here they are...
