I have a 15 year old granddaughter that likes to hunt. She's killed several bucks already, and last year we were watching a field full of deer right at dark. I picked out what I thought was the biggest one and told her to shoot it. She did, and killed it. Afterwards, she told me that the biggest buck had just stepped into view when I told her to shoot. I believe it was the deer in the pic. I'd rather she shoot the deer than me this fall. That's what we're going to work on anyway.
I got this guy on camera last October. Right before gun season opened last year, as I was leaving the farm one night after hunting, he walked out and stood in the middle of the road in front of me. I stopped the truck and sat there for about a minute before he walked out into the soybean field. Hopefully he's still alive.
Overall size is down a bit on my place. Maybe the drought impacted them some. This one is tending to a mock scrape rope I hung. I have since lowered it a bit. Had it a bit high lol. Got a few bucks hitting that. Maybe once local corn is cut more will show up.
I need to check my camera this week. Seems like the last week or week and a half of August, it's like someone flips a switch and they totally disappear and go nocturnal for a while.
Here's a few I've gotten in the last little while.
I'm just starting to put cameras out on some stand locations, but I have this pair of regulars that I'm hoping will stroll through during Youth Season next week.
I'm interested in this guy on another property, mainly due to the rack shape. Those main beams are kind of cool. Makes me think of two little kids saying "I'm not touching you...".
