Me and my Savage 99 1957 F got the job done Tuesday afternoon about 3:30

I had the .308 loaded with some Barnes TSX 165 grain handloads when he strolled by at about 60 yards.
I hit him with the first shot and he bucked and ran about 5 yards and stopped so I hit him again.
Field dressing him his heart was blown into 4 pieces so he wasn't going far.

Decent 11 point, not bad for my area.

As with any deer that's hit but on its feet, if possible I put as much lead in em as I can. Hate tracking and dragging.

A little episode with my buck su day had me trying to get a nother bullet to him but with super thick brush I elected not to make a bunch of racket. Just let him bed up, keep the gun on him and a few minutes later he took the long nap.

Way to get it done up there.

Beautiful buck, beautiful rifle! I hunted all rifle season with my 99F in 308 and never took a shot, though I could have taken a nice 8 (wanted my son to be able to take him but he never did get a shot). Love the 99F!
