I haven't had time to really dig into RoundOak's posts since this weekend's bombshell, but I've read him over the years. He portrayed a life that appealed to many of us, myself included. I sometimes wondered how it penciled out. He claimed to be operating a good sized farm in Wisconsin's Driftless Area, raising beef cattle and harvesting timber. It's been my impression that the Driftless Area isn't particularly well suited to large scale farming due to it's topography. Nevertheless, his seemed an idyllic life without want or need and one that supported his family as well as his brother's widow and children. Just this afternoon, I was looking at a wooden box full of NOS 100+ year old buck handsaw frames and blades and was reminded of RoundOaks's posts about old hand saws for cutting firewood. I thought to myself that it's sort of sad he's been discovered as a fake. That said, I don't know if it was all fiction or what. I'm still not sure if there's a bullshit artist behind RO or if some diabolical misfit is pulling an epic prank or if he's just a lonely old timer trying to stay relevant.

All I know is I feel a helluva a lot relieved in the fact that I can't afford to buy land and roundoak was buying farms easy.

The more I think about this the more I think that someone dear to our hearts is the real roundoak.

roundoak built a helluva profile on here for years, posting pics of numerous hunts where many a whopper whitetail was killed by him and his crew. Later he went to Alaska out West and killed more nice critters. The guy was doing it all so it seems and not only hunting, he had a dandy farm, cabin and a bunch of other faked stuff. I didn't follow him closely, but knew he always seemed to bag huge WT bucks.

A stealthy campfire guy (Hillstadj)sp? caught him using stolen pics from the net and the whole deal unraveled terribly for roundoak. Turns out the guy was a complete BS artist and had many people fooled by posting many pics of fake hunts. I've seen a few fakers on the boards around the 'net before, but ro played the long game and did it well.

Sounds about right. Or maybe some of these guys really blew roundoak and are still in love with him.
