a friend asked me to load for his new 6mm Needmore.

Told him to pick up what bullet he wanted, and he showed up with the 105 gr BTHP from Hornady...

got them "on sale"... crazy hence his choice...like $25 a box.

are these a reliable performer on deer? Years ago I loaded up some Sierra 107 grain at the request of someone,
and those didn't work out well for him.

We are talking Blacktails, which are on average about the size of an antelope to a Large Antelope.. 100 to 120 lbs or so?

Is this a reliable bullet or would you recommend the 100 grain Hornady SP, which I'd be more incline to recommend?

any experience either way would help.... I haven't used them for anything but distant targets... if not a good choice I'll let him read the thread and he can believe others besides my uncertainty about them. Local guy, new to hunting.

thanks in advance...

105 bthp has been perfect for me on deer, hogs, steel, paper, anything I’ve sent one at.

2900fps with h1000 and h4831 from my 243.

Yeah, they’ve killed and exited deer/hogs broadside at .243 speeds.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them on WT and MD.

Same here, from a 243 to a 240 Wby, they have been deer killers.

I've taken lots of antelope with them out of a .243 Ackley. Rare to see anything more than a bang/flop.
