Opening weekend for rifle in Oklahoma has come and gone. No success yet, but it’s good to get out in the woods. The 1953 vintage 94 got out for the first time in who knows how many years.

It is a secret about eastern OK. No one thinks Oklahoma can be so nice . I would not mind living there and when telling people that , they look at me real weird.
Took the drive down OK Hwy 2 going past Robbers’ Cave and Lake Sardis. I had no idea of this beautiful area.

I’m heading to Freedom Oklahoma on Friday to hunt for a few days. I had a great time last year. Looking forward to going back.

I’ve never been there. What’s the country like?

The Freedom area is beautiful high prairie and cedar canyon country. Some big bucks come from up in that part of the state.

I’ll have to take a look around one of these days.

To quote Three Dog Night, "Well, I never been to heaven but I been to Oklahoma." grin

I've lived in Oklahoma, a hidden sportsman's paradise.

Freedom is about a 20 minute drive for me. The drop from the canyon country into the Cimarron river bottom always make me think of big bucks and the days when Indians lived off the land!

I grew up hunting on Camp Gruber. Got my first buck there and my first deer with a 4” M-29 Smith. Still miss it.

Pretty area. I've spent a bit of time in the Sallisaw/Brent area.
