Me and my hunting partner drew tags for Nevada this year, we drew unit 043-046 any legal weapon,. I have hunted several different units in Nevada before and know most of them like the back of my hand however this is a new area for me, if anyone has ever hunted this unit in the past I could use some tips and advice.
I have hunted 044 045 and 046 several times and it can be tough. Do you have the early or late hunt. The Sonomas out of Winnemucca hold alot of deer and big bucks are pulled off that range every year. Ive seen some really good bucks on the tobin range south of Battle Mountain but that is steep nasty country with only one road that I know of getting to the top. But where there are no roads there is no pressure. If it were me I would stick to the Sonomas Range and probably hunt south of Winnemucca off Grass Valley road. It will access several big canyons in that range and does offer alot of vehicle access with plenty of areas to walk. And grass valley road after it turns to dirt will take you clear down to the west side of the tobins as well. Let me know if you need some more info.
