I got lucky again and was fortunate enough to kill another Maine buck.Even years are good for me,odd years I,m lucky to see any deer or I find a way to screw up.
You can see the buck is wet and I was wetter but a happy hunter nonetheless.
Field dressed 185 lbs. not my biggest but he makes my book.

Thanks Ron

Yep. The hardest hunting IMO, is a mature, big woods whitetail.
One can leave the big scope, turrets and ego at home. wink

Maine is my old stomping grounds, have seen and taken some pretty heavy bucks back in the day. That's a dandy buck, what part of Maine did you tag him? Congrats!

he looks big and wet. what did you shoot him with??

Did see much on here from Maine. One of the places on my short list of places I'd love to hunt.

Nice buck

Nice buck - congrats! I used to live in Arundel just off Rt 95 exit 3. Hunted with some friends near Waterville for years. I miss hunting there and often wonder what it's like there now but the properties changed hands so I have no access there

Thanks to all for the kind words.Like manny of you have said hunting in Maine ain't easy and if you're expecting to see a lot of deer go somewhere else, but it is a quality hunt and the freedom to do so in some big woods.
I hunt around the Bingham-Moscow area,Western Mtns,Austin Pond, started in '91 killed my first buck in '95 been hooked every since.
Normally hunt with my rem. mtn.rifle in 7mm-08 but also use a blr in the same cal.
Again thanks to all,

Ron

Two years ago I took a month off to go deer hunting in the states. Shot a nice 8 point in both Georgia and Wisconson and missed the biggest buck of my life while hunting in Bethel Maine. It was an easy 200 yard shot across a beaver bog. I have been kicking myself ever since for getting my first case of buck fever in 40 years.

Great looking deer Congradulations

You would think that after so many years it wouldn't happen to us older guys but it still does.Something about a big mature whitetail that will cause you to bend a trigger.
