I know that the corelock 62 premium is bonded and probably a decent head. whats the thoughts on the 55 gr PSP?
I am running them w/ 25 gr of TAC from a 1-9 twist 20".
Just curious id shots are kept in the 150 yard rang is these would penetrate.
I know people that routinely kill deer with a 55gr psp. However, they're hunters and the idea of shooting a deer 150 yards away would have them laughing on the floor. FWIW they mostly shoot 788s and 340s with 1/14 twist.

150 Yards! laugh

Celebrate diversity Rancho...
Does that mean I have to tolerate dipshits?
I never thought of 150 yards as that long of a poke.
It isn't except when you're using what is basically a varmint bullet.

Thanks for clarifying that you're willing to irresponsibly shoot an inadequate round and that you'd knowingly do it.

Now that Mav 940 has logged on....yes....
55 sps are suggested as teh best in house shooting ammo for an AR for self defense as being frangible and not penetrating far....

That answers it enough for me.

That being said on distance and choice... this weekend we shot a buck at about 140ish yards, 243, 12 grains of blue dot and an 80 nosler varmint ballistic tip. Killed him dead. Bullet did what a normal bullet does because of its super low speed around 2000 fps basically..

Most would laugh at that attempt... was a chip shot when you know whats going on and pick and choose your loads accordingly. I suspect without looking at hornet data thats about what I was shooting....
I killed a doe pronghorn at 175yds with one. Nickel sized exit. She went less than 20yds. I'd use one on a deer...
my question is why? According to what I read, they make some .224 bullets now that are intended for deer. Why not use one?
The fellows I know that use the 55psp have been doing it long before there was any bullet greater than 55grs.
I've shot a ton of them but always at varmints and coyotes.

Yepper it'll do just fine, drop it in behind the front and grab for your knife.
