I just built a .257 Roberts on a M-70 long action and I've been thinking of using this bullet for deer.

Does anybody here use it for deer-sized game and what are your results?
I think that one was developed as an elk bullet for the 25-06, might be a little tough for deer. Give the 100 Interlock a try, it's worked great for me.

Another informed vote for the .257" Hornady 100-grain Spire Point Interlocked. I believe you will find that it is perfect for deer.

The Hornady 100 Interlocked will also cleanly kill black bear and elk, in a pinch.

Superb bullet.

God Bless,

Steve

I use the 120 grain partition in my 257 for deer.

Aint no way I would use it on Elk. What was left of a 120 Hornady HP from a deer hit at 175 yrds, 25.06 @ 2950. Only twice I had to shoot a deer 2 times and this was one.

Go with the 117 Sierra pro hunter or game king. Nosler 115 BT for deer. 110 AB is one hell of a stout bullet. All good bullets for 25 cal.

Swifty
I have not tried the 120 horn hp, but done rather well with the horn 117 btsp @ 2950 for deer. Wife 'offed' a bear with the same load in the 257 Roberts also.

Completely exited various deer and the bear.

Complete destruction of vitals between bullet holes.

One ragged hole shoot'n bullet from the mk-II ruger with imr 7828 and fed 210 caps, win or horn cases.

i seconded 120 grain partition in my 257 for deer. I shoot the ackley ver. It loves 120gr with 4895 i use it for hogs to deer.
When I first built my .257 AI, I didn't have any problems killing mule and whitetail deer and pronghorn antelope with Hornady 120 gr HPs. Once I even killed 3 prairie dogs standing in a line with one Hornady 120 gr HP.
buffybr

Like to see you line up three wolfs in a row and see how the AI peforms.
dont no about that one but sierra 120 bthp gameking is a great bullet
I have used the Speer 120 BTSP, Speer 120 Grandslam and Barnes 115 TSX in my 2506s. All work great.
I've taken a truck load of deer with the 120gr Hornady HP in a 257AI. It never took more than one bullet per deer. Only recovered one...from a hard quartering shot, and it looked like a Hornady ad. All the rest were pass thru's with good blood (which was not necessary, cause they didn't go far. Great bullet, IMO.
I've had excellent results on deer with the 117grn btsp interlock and 115 ballistic tip out of my Roberts. Zero complaints with either bullet.
I used to have a 25-06 that liked the H-120 HP interlock. I only shot 4 deer with it but they all were pass throughs that dropped at the shot. Of course they were the small frame Texas whitetails. I am remembering one in particular, the exit looked like a triangle had been cut with a knife and the tall grass beyond where he stood looked like it had been spray painted solid red for about a five foot radius.

If your rifle likes them, I think you will like the results.

+1!!!

My 257 AI shoots these pills REALLY well and all recipients have dropped quickly. It really performs at. Level far & above what should be expected for a simple little CNC bullet!
I 2nd 120 partitions hard to beat in a 25-06. Amen
I used this bullet this season in a custom 257 Roberts that my son built for me.The 8 point whitetail I harvested was quarting slightly towards me and 120 yds downhill, the bullet entered just above the left shoulder breaking a rib on the way in and exited just behind the right leg breaking a rib on the otherside. The lungs and everything this bullet came in contact with was liquified!I love this bullet and so does my rifle,it will shoot .25 inch 5 shot groups all day long with this bullet.
I highly recommend this bullet for whitetails !

I am shooting it in a 25 WSSM @ 2880 fps...it just plain kills. It is very accurate and easy to get complete pass throughs. Shoot straight and rest easy if you choose this bullet.
I use the 115 NBT in my 25wssm and 110 AB in my 25-06 and have had nothing but success with them. Most DRT or all with 100yards with plenty of blood.
