I got this 8 point yesterday afternoon. I bought the 760 the year High Brass was born and it became his favorite rifle. He put a Vari-X III 2.5x8 on it. I have it now and used ammo he had loaded for it. I field dressed it with his knife. It was a great day but lacking without him hunting with me.
Congrats! Im sure he was right there with you.
He was.
Very cool all the way around.😉
When I was a boy I remember always looking down at my kill as soon as I got to it. As I get older and loss more lovedone/hunting partners I find my self looking up first. High brass beat you to your buck. Good job and best wishes.
Great buck Dave! Congrats!
Very nice buck, congrats!
A VERY SPECIAL buck indeed. I know you felt High Brass's presence. Congratulations Dave.
That is really, really neat. Congrats!!

Can't think of a more deserving fellow in a more deserving year. Congrats!
Thanks to all! I know Chad and I have friends here at the campfire that would appreciate the story. It helps heal me.
The greater reward of hunting has been realized in this hunt. Congrats to you and enjoy every second.
That's a great heart warming story..I lost my Dad a couple years back, and I have hunted with his guns since then...I seen that you hunt at Staats Mill..Is that were you shot that deer?..I live at Gay which is just a rocks throw away..I killed my best deer since Dad passed using his old Savage Monday, and it brings back memerories .
DeereJohn2, thanks for sharing your story. I hunt on Westvaco property at O'Brien lake. There's a Fisher family cemetery on the lease.
I know exactly were you mean..Is that were that deer came from?
Yes. About 325-350 yards SW of the cemetery.
Nice deer buddy.
There have been several nice deer taken in WV this year.

I can't express what I want to say here and have it make sense. Great story and a great buck. Wasn't no way this wasn't going to happen when you took that gun with his loads. Hope this helps you to get past this. I bet he is smiling. Congrats on a Real Trophy of a Lifetime.
Nice deer and rifle...killed a lot of WT and coyotes with a 7600 while growing up.
It is a great Buck Indeed.
Dave, when you sent the photo, I saw the rifle and knew which one it was. I was beside myself for you in your success but as I sit here finally able to process it I am in grief and in elation.
Now that folks have left and the day is winding down I think back to the years of calls or text from Chad when he relayed funny stories or called to discuss the days afield with you while hunting. I can not say I have missed Chad ever as much as I do today. My heart cries and my eyes weep.
Thank you for sharing this buck with me and the story with us all. It truly is a special buck for more reasons than most will ever know.
Fwiw, Big John killed a buck with his .280 a week or so back. While I have little hope of such a buck
I do hope to punch a tag with his .308 before the season is done.
Thats a beautiful buck and a great rifle to boot, thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks Ryan. You are a great friend and proud to say you are my friend as well as all of Chads friends. It's been a mellow day today.
Dave, very nice buck - glad to see you are hunting with a rifle Chad enjoyed using. Bruce
Fantastic buck Dave. Congratulations! Truly meaningful. Thanks for sharing the story.
