It's been a while since I posted.

I have a new BAR that loves Core-Loc 150 gr ammo. I'll just be hunting Alabama size whitetail with it. I handload Accubonds for my custom bolt actions and have had wonderful results. I tried several brands and weights of ammo in the BAR to find the most accurate load and the Core-Loc 150 gr will nearly out shoot my bolt rifles!
My question is will they work on a mature 200 pound buck if I get the chance to take one at 100- 200 yards?

A 150 grain 30 caliber Core-lokt will kill any deer on the planet graveyard freaking dead if you hit it right. Not saying you are going to get 100% weight retention and exits all the time just dead deer. Moses killed his first deer with a 150 grain core-lokt....can't remember if it was with an '06 or a 30-30...I'll have to check the bible...but it was one of those. People have been killing deer with em ever since.

Long story, but one time I shot through a tree about the diameter of my forearm and killed the deer standing behind it with a 150 grain core lokt. The bullet "exploded" when it hit the tree but some pieces of it hit the deer in the chest and killed him about as quick as if I had hit him with the whole thing! If you can miss the trees you will be in great shape!

I really love this site. I always say if you want to learn something about a topic seek out an enthusiast, and we certainly have our share of those here. But the amount of bullet ocd this place engenders is astounding.....and amusing!

In a single word....yep!!

The 150 has been killing deer effectively at longer distances than the ranges you indicate since it first came out and will continue to do so for many decades to come.

I never hunted with a .308 using that bullet, but loaded them for my .300 Savage for many years resulting in a lot of dead deer.

Hell yes it will.

The only thing I like better in my .308 than 150gr core-locs is 165gr Federal Fusion. I can't reload to better accuracy than the Fusion gives me.

Why would you think a 150 gr. 30 cal. any-kind-of bullet out of a .308 couldn't handle a deer? It's been determined that the biggest deer in North America really don't like getting shot by that load. Neither do elk, mule deer, bears or Sasquatch.

Nessie wasn't real impressed though.

I haven't used them in years to hunt with. I thought Remington improved them several years ago but it might have been a different bullet that they introduced.

The longest I've had with a core-lokt 150gr was out of a 30-06 at 325 yds and the bullet kept going. Put the bullet it the right spot and it will do it's job!

It amazes me how fickle some people can be with which bullets that they HAVE to have to kill a deer with. I've had more deer drop in their tracks with a 120 gr. Core-Lokt than any other cartridge or caliber over the last 40 yrs. That is shooting different calibers, various bullet weights, and handloads. It is hard to find anything better than an instant kill imo.

I've had nothing but DRT's with the 150 Core Lokt in a 30-06.

These two bucks were dropped by a Winchester M88 at 75 & 100 yards with a Remington Corelokt 150 grain factory load on a cool fall morning in 2008. Both DRT - I think you can use the Corelokt with confidence.

Nice Buck on top and the under seems ok also and stout.

150 gr corelokt are my "reference" load for .308. Took my largest ever whitetail with one (210lbs dressed). Been using 165 gr fusions more lately, but still check to see where the 150s impact when sighting in "just in case". The 150 corelokt are a little more accurate, but I'm trying the heavier bullet.

have owned my portugese assembled BAR for a number of years (fitted with a leupold 2.5x8 vari-x iii. heavy, and effective.

certainly the 150 grain psp cor-lokt works fine. but, have you tried or considered the 180 grain round nose cor-loks for the thickets? they use to be std isue at every wal-mart but not anymore.

not trying to shift your thinking, just throwing out another option from one BAR owner to another.
