I thought I would share some of my favorite hunts from this past season. Many of the deer harvested this year were deer that I have watched for several years. We had exceptional rainfall during the Spring and Summer months which really helped with antler growth. Our low fence hunts yielded a higher average on score due to the excellent ranch conditions. We took several deer over 200" and many in the 160-200" class. We have begun to prepare for this coming years whitetail hunts and look forward to more big deer hit the ground!

My whitetail hunts are done on ranches in- Zavala, Live Oak, Starr, Webb, Jim Hogg, Duval, and Blanco County. 11 ranches total

Do you ever kill any down there or just harvest them..

We kill them but to be politically correct most people prefer the term "harvest"

did any of them die without corn in there mouth?

I'm not sure what they had in their mouth when they were shot but I can tell you we feed approx 6 tons of corn a week on the roads November- February. It's pretty fun to watch 20-60 deer a sit. That's really the only way to attract them out of the south Tx brush.

Some big deer. What did the biggest score, gross and net BandC?

The biggest deer taken this season was a deer we nicknamed "Skyscraper". That deer was very special to me, we have passed/ watched that deer for the last 4 years. He went from a 170 class deer to 212" this year at 7.5 yo. A friend and client of mine from Mississippi drove down to hunt him on a last minutes notice when another client could not make the hunt. I expected it to be somewhat difficult to kill this particular deer but 30 minutes into the hunt on the first day we had him under the feeder (my luck is never that good). My client made a front quartering shot, it was not ideal but through all the excitement that was the shot that was made. After seeing the shot I called my friend Roy Hines to bring his tracking dogs out to look for the deer. Around 11pm that night the dogs had him bayed, had we not called the dogs the deer would have lived. The buck was barely grazed under the brisket! It was a great feeling to finally put my hands on a deer I had been watching for so many years. Also the coolest thing about this hunt was that it was all on film, we are putting together a mini series of hunts for our clients and potential clients to view. As soon as the shows are done I will post on here.

What is the difference between a trophy and classic hunt?

Our "classic hunts" are basically a management type of hunt. These hunts are done on various ranches and each ranch has a different type of management plan and feed program. Prices vary from ranch to ranch, depending on how intensive the feeding program is and type of facilities that are on the ranch. On the classic hunts we mainly go after big 8 points and occationally harvest 9 and 10 points as you can see in some of the pictures I have shared on this thread.

Our trophy hunts are for deer that fall into the trophy category on the particular ranch that you are hunting. These hunts target 10pt and up and in some cases really big 8 and 9pts that will score over 145. Historically our trophy deer have averaged 150"+ and most of the time 160+. Prices on trophy hunts vary on each ranch.

Gosh I was just reading on another thread how you can't kill "trophy bucks" under corn feeders. Guess Rost495 was just full of shyt as usual.

I am assuming these are high fence deer not eligible for BandC scoring.

I do still however wonder if huge bucks are added to the pastures from deer farms or to artificially enhance the antler genetics of the native deer population.

Pardon, please, but enquiring minds would like to know.

We hunt both high and low fence ranches. Several of the deer pictured are HF deer.

We practice several types of management techniques deepening on the ranch.

Do y'all have hookers available at any of your facilities? I can't think of anything that I'd enjoy more than letting the air out of a zoo animal then tearing off a chunk of tail for a nightcap.

My most expensive hunt is $9,000 for a 215"+ deer

Classic hunts start at $2,950 and go up to $3,750. Each ranch is different and pricing is based on lodging and the feed program for the ranch.

Here is a segment from a hunt we filmed on the Arrow Head 7 Ranch. This is a high fence ranch and we manage it to produce the biggest deer that we can. We have a very aggressive management plan that includes taking deer that are 2 years old if they are not keeping up with the rest of the herd. Each property we manage has a different plan based off what our target goal is, we have ranches that we will pass 8.5yo 160" deer and we have ranches that we will harvest 190" 2 year old deer. The Arrow Head 7 happens to be one of those ranches we harvest 190" 2 year olds on.
