You guys got a point system for deer and antelope? Bonus? Preference? Random draw? Thanks
Posted By: viking Re: North Dakota guys. - 08/16/19
I believe there is.
Posted By: DakotaDeer Re: North Dakota guys. - 08/17/19
Yes, yes, yes, no.

Rifle antelope cannot be hunted by non-residents. There are very few non-resident tags for deer either.
Posted By: horse1 Re: North Dakota guys. - 08/17/19
Non-Resident rifle deer tags = 1% of available antlered tags in any given unit.

Non-Resident archery is OTC for whitetail and lottery for Mule-Deer.

Wyoming should go to that Resident/Non-Resident tag allotment ratio.

As a ND native who moved away in his 20’s I can say that ND is about the least tag-friendly stat for non-resident rifle hunters. After the gratis tags are allocated there are some units that literally have 1 NR buck tag up for grabs. It is taking many years to draw a tag in the more competitive units.

My dad is 78 and still lives in ND. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will not likely have another deer hunt with him where we both have tags. I still go up every year to go along but usually end up having to do my hunting in the neighboring MT where tags are relatively easy to procure.

where will the game and fish get their funding? it's a legit question. like most states NR hunters fund the lions share of the budget for DNR/game and fish departments. I've advocated for MORE NR tags here in SD where I live. it makes the most sense if you think of the big picture and not just as an individual.

57,000 NR Fishing, 80K resident fishing licenses. General hunting license which you need to purchase any other hunting license = NR 37,243 vs. 37,995 residents. Then of course Oil $$ funds pretty much everything here now. When hunting license sales are 52% residents and 48% NR, I think we're doing enough sharing.

no South Dakota is now the least friendly non-resident hunting state ,and may i also say this it seems all western states are getting greedy with American land ,maybe President Trump can improve this situation ? this is one nation under GOD !
Posted By: Colorado1135 Re: North Dakota guys. - 08/22/19
with 8% NR tag allocation and unlimited archery for any deer (mule deer and WT) statewide how do you figure? it's way better than ND. ND sucks if you're a NR or R for getting a tag!

Now in SD there is no NR rifle hunting on the eastern half of the state, so all the pressure is put on WR and BH for NR. that is WRONG on so many levels IMO. That said, one could argue SD is the most friendly western state to NR archery hunters. Plus our tag prices are some of the cheapest west of the Mississippi at $275 for NR hunters, and they can have multiple tags if they like. I suggest you learn a little more before making a blanket statement. State tag allocation for hunting has nothing to do with public land. perhaps there's some more education to be had on that subject as well for you sir...........

Do you have some sort of weekly talking-out-of-your-@ss quota to meet?
SD is nowhere near as unfriendly for non-resident hunters as ND.

If it was up to me that 8% allotment of NR tags would be shifted to East River only and let them turds walk a mile in our shoes for a while. MB
Posted By: Colorado1135 Re: North Dakota guys. - 08/22/19
I'd be happy if they just made ER and WR 1 hunt zone with the 8% of unit tags to go to NR. but I really like your idea Magnum Bob! I was all for the 1 first choice tag option proposal myself.

South Dakota i heard just past a new law on public land N.R. bowhunters can not hunt the first 30 days of the bow season .i am not sure if it starts this year 2019 or next year 2020 ? the word friendly in the state of South Dakota does not exist if this is the law ? anyone know if this law passed ?
