I was stuck for a subject material today, so I started looking back at the weblog for inspiration. I found this blast from the past:

Funnels and Deer Signs

-- just thought y'all might want a chuckle.

My uncle shot exactly one deer in his short life. The only long gun he owned at the time was a Marlin bolt-action Goose Gun in 12 gauge. My dad kiddingly told him to take an apple and rub it into a tree to attract a deer. The tree he chose was a big fur tree and he sat nearby waiting. A big 10 pointer showed up, and tarted smelling the tree when Uncle John cut loose with the Marlin and OO buck. After the third shot the buck died and when they skinned it out saw that out of 27 pellets launched only one hit the mark.

Now that I'm older, I only shoot the ones that deer have red noses.
