As you know, I moved about a year ago, to where I grew up. Been gone 30 yrs and things have changed. Anyway, I was looking at some property we bought back around 2000 and at that time it had a bunch of gum on it. Dad clear cut it several years ago and just let it go. It's just 4 acres that joins the rest of the place, but so grown up you can't walk thru it, deer paradise. On the back side is a small parcel of land that I dont own and most of it is a swampy, overgrown, tangled mess, but it does have a little hillside. The whole place is just about 2 acres, but the land owner lets me hunt it. I hadn't looked at this couple of acres, until yesterday. You access it by a gravel public road and just looking at it from there, it doesn't look worth fooling with, but once you get thru the vines, fallen limbs, etc,. it opens up into the prettiest 1/2 acre of hardwoods you could ask for. Hardly any underbrush and 2 trails coming from our 4 acres. I had to hang a treestand in there yesterday.
Sounds like a great place to fill a tag.

Keep us posted as the season goes along.
Sounds like a honey hole to me. Keep us posted as the season progresses.
Sounds like it's got potential.
It has potential that's for sure.

How about the predominate wind direction for the location of your stand ?

How about your access -- getting to it ?

An alternate stand site ?

Regardless -- good luck.

Sounds like a Whitetail paradise. Sounds very similar to my little 5 acre piece of ground near Turkey Creek! We’re ready to see some photos showing your success! 👍 memtb

Jerry, it's hard to say about the predominate wind direction. It's not the only stand I've got, so I'll just hunt it when the wind is right. West or N. West.

Only way to get to it, without messing things up, is to come in from the gravel road, no problem there. I'll just park up the road a couple hundred yds, where I own the property on both sides of the road. Nobody can say anything.

Alternate stand. I've got 3 more on my land, but none of them are within 350-400 yds of this place. I was looking for a place to put a stand on my east line and it was just too thick, until I found this spot. Hidden from everything.

Got my fingers crossed.
I’d hang a couple cameras and see what’s lurking around. Sounds sweet !
A little hideaway spot like that can have huge potential! Good luck 👍......Hb
sounds like a great place. Looking forward to your trail cam pics.
