Buck down with two firsts - 11/16/19
I was getting my gear ready at Noon for an afternoon sit. I heard what sounded like deer blowing. I turned around and this buck and another were running does about 75-100 yards away. I decided he was a shooter and steadied the smoke pole. I squeezed the trigger while aiming appropriately for a quartering always shot (offside shoulder) . The shot felt good. When the smoke cleared , all I saw was a doe and she bolted in about 5 seconds. I couldn’t see anything .
It was a sunny day and I finally picked up movement. He went right down and his horns were glistening in the sun moving around. I reloaded and waited. Pretty soon , I headed toward the deer making a wide circle and ready to shoot again. I got up on him and he was alive. Already reloaded, I finished him off.
