.
I have a 83 Marlin with the cross bolt safety and an older Marlin without. I noticed the lever plungers had different configurations. Are these supposed to have different part #'s. The plunger on the 83

contacts a pin when it closes while the older one does not have that pin. I am sure there is an answer but I do not have it. The 83 lever drops to easily.-----------Thanks

Anyone know where these parts are available?

Have you tried stretching the spring a little?

I have a 1969-made 336 which does have that pin, as do the newer Remington 1895 rifles that I have (which are based on the 336). The lever plungers look the same to me, although I would not be surprised if they differ slightly due to different makers.

But, if your 1983 and earlier Marlin are both JM 336 rifles, then they should both have that pin. That wedged plunger needs something to lock under.
