The crud hit hard last Sunday, but I wasn't coughing up a lung this morning so I went out. I bought this 1977 Marlin 336 in 30/30 about a dozen years ago at a pawn shop for $199 out the door, but I've never seen anything while carrying it.

I wasn't in the woods for 10 minutes when the little buck, with a doe, came in at 3 o'clock from me. She left but he was still curious. I switched hands and shot from my left shoulder. He was hard quartering to me, the bullet went in at the knuckle and traveled 19 inches. He was about 30 yards away.

You can see a tuft of hair sticking up by the rear ring, that is where the bullet was. I pulled it out with my fingers. It was the first deer I've shot with the Winchester Power Max Bonded 150gr. He ran about 30 yards.

Very nice.
Congrats!
Not to sound ignorant, but what caliber?
I think the Marlin Model 336, came in several calibers.
I was the dummy for not including it, 30/30.

The Winchester Bonded Power Max have small hollowpoint.
No problem, and thanks for adding it!
That slug did a nice job expanding!

30/30 cal. has taken a lot of Deer, and other game for a long time by many!

Excellent, congrats,
I am a bolt gun but... but always love to see pics of the levers doing a good job in the field. Such an efficient killing machine

Glad you broke the curse. Rifle should be lucky from here on out.
