Collector of six decades! Marlin in radar clutter for years. 'Out there." Began paying attention in early seventies as the big bore Marlins came along. First in .444 and then in 45/70. Believe mine dates from that first year. But also 'other '336 traffic 'on screen' and I began 'noticing' as added to shopping list. I probably have something more than a dozen by now. I especially like the early "waffle top" models. But I didn't discriminate! Pinging on any of them for scrutiny between 48 intro and 80 as replaced by safety models of no interest. A couple of Marauders, both 30-30. Would have liked .35 Rem, but also price conscious and few seemed overpriced. Also, I'm heavily influenced in collecting with ammo availability and the 30-30 until recently 'Walmart tuff!' Incidentally saw more 'faked' Marauders than genuine. Serial prefix wrong as best clue. More obvious as with pistol grip stock... Duh! I like my 1973 "Octagon model something like 4K or so made!

Today, almost decade after calling 'halt' to collecting as Cal intro'd the rifle "registration program". 'Time'!

My belief of decades, that the Model 336 has been one of the best 'sleeper' values. Superior to comparable Winchester pre '64 models I also collect 'a bit'. Top scope and true side eject the design is just superior. Only two 'post '80', guns. A '94 in 45 Colt from about '91? and a .450 from 2000 era. Latter too much gun for the ergonomics of taller guy and not enough stock length of pull!

Well, 120 pound Dog here vying for my attention. Trying to flip laptop from my lap! Time to go!
My Marlin interest history, my take!
Best!

Love the 336. I've also had around a dozen. Here's an early '57 ADL (24" barrel) that's hand checkered. Marlin quality at its best.

Had a 336 R.C. in 35 Remington made in 1950. A younger hunter now has it. I may get around to getting another, but for now a pair of 760's in this caliber has me covered and entertained. I will always appreciate the feel and balance of the early 336 Marlins
