I picked up a 336a that has a sling swivel in the stock and a clamp on the mag tube one in the front. Did the rifle come from Marlin this way, or were these added. I don't really care for the front one, but I don't want to toss it if the rifle came with it. This is a rifle with a 24" barrel and a half length magazine. Were all the 336a that configuration?
Is this a new 336A or the old ones with the 24" barrel? Just wondering, because neither came with a clamp on swivel on the tube.
It is an old one, I'm guessing from the fifties. Round bolt, but no squigly lines on top of the receiver.
the solid clamp on front swivel are usually uncle mike's. the mag tube has to be removed and a round slot filed in the tube for the retaining screw.. the later uncle mikes uses a two piece clamp that just goes on the tube without having to remove the tube. the old style UM solid clamp swivel were a PITA to install.
