Looking for recommendations on a gunsmith who specializes in lever guns. I’ve got a 336 that I’d like to shorten up the barrel and mag tube on to make the dimensions similar to the youth models. Also want to have the front sight moved back so the barrel can be threaded for suppressor use. Anyone have any first hand recommendations? Thanks.

Try Jeff Johansen of J&J Gunshop in Unadilla, N.Y. or Regan Nonnemann in Missouri.....

An example of the 24HCF at its very best.

Thanks to those who make it available to us.

Ranger Point Precision in Houston Texas. You will not find better.
I had work done by both Jeff Johansen and Regan Nonneman and highly recommend them both. Also JES( 35caliber.com) and Ranger Point Precision. All four are as good as it gets.
I had found the Ranger Point website and thought they looked pretty legit. Hard to pick a service just off a website though, so I'm glad to hear a couple first hand reviews. I'm sure there are many great smiths out there with small shops and not a lot of time or money for web development. For you guys who have had work done at Ranger Point, what did you have done? Thanks.

Anyone have Ranger Point modify a Marlin for longer COAL? I have a .30-30 Imp I thought about letting them open up.
Doug Turnbull
I've had good luck with Wild West Guns. He's added a shop in Las Vegas. The PIA guy in Anchorage is gone now, from what I understand.
Who was the PIA guy in Anchorage? Is it Ken?
Regan Nonneman.
If you want to dress it up some too,, ,then Doug Turnbull and his staff is the way to go......they can do almost anything with a levergun.
