I just bought a 1979 JM stamped model 336. I have never owned a 30-30 before and do plan on reloading for it. Does anyone have any pet loads they would share. I currently have Benchmark, H4895, and Varget on hand so any loads with those powders would be a huge help. Thanks so much.
Btw, this is going to be set up for hog hunting. Most shots will be 40 yard range. Furthest shot should be no more than 100 yards.
Also, if anyone has a factory load to recommend that would be great.

Congrats on the new rifle. I've worked with the .30-30 a long time now and I've always used IMR 3031 and Win 748 so I guess I'm not much help. As far as factory loads the Fed/Win/Rem 170's are all excellent.

77, Never messed with Benchmark, but H4895 is very good.. I have loaded it in the .30-30.. Varget should also work.. I would check my reloading books and go from there.. I have lots of H4895 so I used it..

My Marlin shows a strong preference for 170 gr. bullets. The 170 gr. Federal power shok {blue box} factory loads routinely shoot MOA for 3 shots and are very effective on deer. It does just as well with a book max load of IMR 4064 and the 170 Sierra FP.

Congrats on your fine rifle. I just bought an bunch of factory ammo at Walmart for $13.77 box. It's an good way to have ammo on hand and supply of cases.
