What’s the value on these now and how do they compare next to the JM marked rifles? I have a chance to purchase one but I do t know anything about the new guns.

They're hit or miss. You have to look them over good before you plop your money on the counter.

I agree with moosemike, they are hit or miss. Look it over pretty good. Make sure it's what you want. On the positive side through November 27, there is a $75 rebate going on.

I have read Remington changed the bolt face configuration on the 1984 and no longer heat treat the cartridge lifters. The real "JM" marlin 1894's always worked.

I sold a couple of JM’s and this one is used so no rebate options. Asking $500 along with some ammo.
