I posted earlier regarding the feeding issue with my recently acquired 70's vintage 35 Rem. The carrier is hanging up on the loading spring/gate when trying to load a round in the chamber. Here is a shot of the gate looking down through the bottom of the receiver.

Does all look OK?

gate is bent too much........rebend ? replace ? new will need fitting.......

do not over tighten gate screw unless you have spare.........blue loc tite........
