And I got it all back together at the house.
Has a nice deep blue black hue in day light.aint looked at assembled rifle in daytime yet. Got it all back together about 3 hours ago.
Got about 20ish 50- 50 mix coats of mineral spirits and tru oil.
I'm pleased with it.

Is that the stock front sight?
Nice work.

No , i had to install a Williams. 570 to work with the willams receiver sight
The original was a .525- .530 that worked with the bb gun blade ramp factory rear
I modified that rear sight into a dovetail on the barrel
With the receiver sight bottomed out and that .530 I was 6 inches high at 100

The .570 was rectangular in shape , way too blocky in its appearance
So I took the Dremel to it and modified it into a sloping forward look.
Thanks, I think I will set my sights up like yours but am trying to figure out the best way to get a matte finish that looks good on the wood.
Tru oil , buff it down and wax it is what some guys do
They sell a kit for the satin look I think
Never done one myself, l kinda like shine.
My barrel is 20"
Williams has a chart for sight heights if I remember right.
I did center line on my old front sight with masking tape down opposite side of it front and back along the barrel to give me
A ball park line up when I drove it out and put in the new one.
Actually lined it up pretty precise to tell the truth.
Windage adjustment to the very 1st left line from center on the peep was all I had to make.

If ya got good eyesight get the .050 aperture also, with the original .093 the front site is indistinct and blurry
With the .050 it is crisp and clear.
but it will Rob ya of about 10 mins of shooting light in the morning and evening
Brass bead works good during those times, then when it gets light enough smoke the brass bead black real quick with a lighter.
Going to update the 58 Marlin I have, start using what I started hunting with again while I can still see the sights.
Back in 1980ish when I was 16 or 17 i had a marlin 30-30 half tube 24 inch barrel, fancy walnut ,white line spacers. They made that model
for 2 or 3 yrs back then. Like a fool I sold it. Seen this 36g at a pawn shop, accurate and easy to carry.
now I find myself looking for presafety Marlins, like to find a .35 or .444 half tube in good condition.
Marlinitis.....
I have played with the 35 Rem and the 444 Marlin a lot over the years. I found the 30-30 got used a great deal more though I used the 444 a lot as a second rifle.
