Opinions sought, is it too short to re-bore to .375 or .38-55?

Would you rather have a longer barrel?

I think that Weagle had JES turn a 30-30 Marlin 336 into a 375 and, IIRC, he was pleased with the work.

I would consider the 375 and 38-55 to be relatively short/woods range cartridges, so a longer barrel would be less handy on that type of rifle and any additional velocity that a longer barrel might bring to the table would be a non-factor.

Thanks 260 I think it's a 16" barrel, will have to dig it out and look!

I own a JM 336Y Spikehorn.... Very handy size .. Yep 16.25 inch barrel

I owned a Glenfield with a 1/2 length tube .. 20inch barrel .. I bought it to bob the barrel to 16.5 inches and have Jes to rebore it to 375win .. But I lost my job and had to liquidate over 12 Leverguns (and other guns) .. It was one of'em

I think a 16 inch barreled 375/38-55 would be handy

Thx Buckeye!

Sorry to hear about the liquidation, hope all is well now.

A short .375 sounds really cool. Something to file away for someday, maybe. If I come across a spike horn and have cash in my pocket, I've long planned on picking one up and putting a full-size buttstock on it.
