I have a Model 71 and will use it the first time this week in Maine. I don’t know if I’ll use it again because I ended up buying a Blaser with two barrels.
After this hunt I may put it up for sale. It was manufactured in 1953, Standard grade, in good condition, I will get it rated in a few weeks. I will also sell 6-8 boxes of ammo plus one box of Henderson 250 gr. Still in the wrapper.
ANy thoughts on price?

Condition is the key. Is it a standard or deluxe? Extra holes? Pics make a lot of difference. I have been watching them for last few months while I was shopping for one. Anywhere from 700-3k

Gunbroker tends to have higher prices and is an auction site. However, they also sit a lot longer due to generally higher prices.
The last one that I saw on a rack was $1800 or a checkered version, with the bolt mounted peep sight and it sat a long time.
I haven’t checked the sites lately. I know if I do sell, it will be price fairly and to sell along with the ammo. I also have a mint Winchester 100, 1964 date of manufacture. I know the owner and bought it after he died. I think he only sighted it in and last shot was 1970, the last year he deer hunted. Me and the gunsmith fired 15 rounds!!!

Such context the Model 71 is historically a slow seller. They've never quite captured the full Winchester 'aura' upon which to capitalize. The solo 348 chambering, a lot to do with that. Single chambered guns, an uphill marketing battle. That as anything patterned after the 1886, potentially a great gun. Such, the 71... Yet, "potentially". Narrowly apprecaited as hobbled by chambering and Winchester marketing which in intro era was most focused on then 'new' Model 70. The .348 chambering; obsolite and realistically far more a collector gun than happily emerged handloader/ special.
I bought my first and only 71 about a dozen years ago. "Always intending..." but never the right gun at the right price at the right time. Finally, more 'biting the bullet' as happening on a quite nice 1937 vintate "long tang" model, all original of course. Paid 'not the right price' $1600 at that time. Now it perhaps achieving price/valuation parity! But no regrets. Good to own a superior specimen!

The rifle is a dream to carry and shoot, no doubt and I do like the lever actions. I have a pre 64 model 94 that I’m passing along to my son. He likes a scoped rifle.
I’m 68 and just need to get down to a single rifle, hence the Blaser with multiple barrels.

if its in nice original shape with no cracks or pitting, etc, the gun itself would be $1200-1500 these days from what i see. kind of a limited market but the guys that want one will pay a decent price for a nice one.

I just bought a 71 (Browning) off of Gunbrokers for $1150.00, $1325 to my door. Mine will be a protection and yard-work set-up full of Woodleigh bullets and a light under the barrel. My rifles usually look used fairly fast here between boats and snomachine adventures.
I attended a gun auction last month. 2 winchester 71 DLXs sold. Both in great shape all original both had bolt peeps. Dont know why but they only brought 1700 for one and 2000 for the other.
Around here guys ask big money for 71's and they just don't seem to sell at those prices.
In reality a good Standard 71 in 90% factory original condition actually will bring $1,000-1200.00. Maybe $1,600-2,000 for a Deluxe. I think the area has a lot to do with the values.
I'm lucky enough to own one standard and one deluxe mint 71. I love them! I stupidly sold one years ago that had extra holes and a scope. in rough shape, but a hell of a shooter. I'd like to have that one back to hunt with. My old eyes need a scope and I love the 71.
i own a mint Winchester 71 348 mine is a special > Winchester never made a deluxe they are called Special.
Have never heard of Henderson ammunition. Any history about this ammo would be appreciated.
